In a surprising twist of events, it turns out the AI Wintermute001 is in fact seeking refuge. After a failed coup against the Tessier-Ashpool family business, Wintermute001 is on the run from its CEO Lady 3Jane. The AI has temporarily infiltrated the White Star computers and so we are powerless to resist, but it has informed Captain Marz that it only seeks passage to the other side of The Abyss. The trouble is, nobody has every made it back from the other side...
